NGMN Perspectives on Vertical Industries and Implications for 5G

The NGMN 5G White Paper, published in February 2015, outlines, among other things, a wide range of use cases, and discusses the requirements or the required considerations and studies in enabling them. In order to fully realize a sustainable ecosystem, both technical and economic realities need to be carefully assessed. This includes a prominent focus on “Verticals” requirements of 5G, in growing interaction with, engagement of, and input from the Verticals industries. This paper highlights the technical requirements for a number of selected use cases across the vertical industry and the external factors that need to be addressed to make these use cases economically viable.
